NYC Trip Day 5

Tuesday was my last full day in NYC. Sniffle. I really wanted to go to a Broadway show, so we woke up and made our way to Times Square to wait in line for discounted tickets. I had to snap this giant champagne bottle for Jenn since it's her favesies.
For some reason, all the giant signs on top of signs on top of signs on top of people stacked on people in Times Square reminded me of scenes from Wall-E when the earth became unlivable. Interesting, no?

After we snagged our tickets (I had it narrowed down to If/Then, Of Mice and Men or Matilda. And Matilda won! Aka, didn't cost an arm+leg), we made our way to the New York Public Library. EEEEE!!!!!

I could've spent days in here. Except I was super overwhelmed by being around giant crowds by this point.

Luckily for me, there was a children's literature exhibit to check out!

From NYPL we went out for dinner before our big show:

The show was absolutely amazing. I can't believe Matilda was played by a nine year. What were you doing with your life at nine? Starring in a Broadway show? Probably not... dang. The set was amazing, giant scrabble like letters framing the stage. It was fun to pick out different words, whether they were intentional or not. There was a library set that was amazing and had Shhhh and Silence hidden in the letters. I laughed, I teared up. It was easily the best money I spent on the entire trip.

From the show, it was back to Susan's to pack and get ready for an early departure. Unluckily for me, I woke up at about 2am with the stomach flu and spent the entire trip home curled in the fetal position trying to not die. :(

I do have to thank Susan profusely/immensely/ridiculously for being my tour guide and hostess for the week. I wish SoDak was even a tenth as cool as NYC so that I could repay the favor to her, but I'm sure we'll meet up somewhere else cool someday (hopefully soon!)

NYC Recap Day 4

Monday we woke up to the coldest day in NYC history for March 24th. Neat-o! Susan had to go to work in the morning, so I slept in and when she got back we made our way to the Met for a full afternoon of museuming.
You could probably spend 6 days in here and not see everything.

Kyle always wants to put his taxidermied deer heads in our apartment. If he attached crystals to it like this one, I'd be all for it.

After the Met we enjoyed amazing tacos and margaritas at the Diablo. My phone was pretty dead so this was the last pic I snapped for the night.

We did manage to find our way to Molly's Cupcakes after asking people with charged cell phones for directions (what did people do before cell phones?!?!) and I snagged two.

I realized after taking a small bite that I needed to photo document its awesomness.
Mmmmm.

NYC Recap Day 3

Sunday was one of the most fun days I had in NYC. We slept in and headed to the Brooklyn Flea.

I ate a mushroom arepas and thoroughly enjoyed my first taste of Colombian food. And then I had the most amazing prickly pear lemonade that I would like to drink everyday for the rest of my life. Topped off with some macaroons before we left. Yum.

I also snagged my first souvenir of the trip with an adorable vintage high-waisted printed skirt. And it's green. Obvs.

From there we walked to the nearby Brooklyn Brewery, but I had to snap some sweet graffiti art en route.

I would like this quote on a shirt.

Susan and my beer chips. We decided to forgo the actual tour and instead just sampled the beers. We split five beers to make our own sampler.

Stripes on stripes ON STRIPES, WHO DOES SUSAN THINK SHE IS?!?!

Mmm beers.

From here it was to Strand Bookstore to look at 18 miles worth of books. It was overwhelming, like crazy. So many people.

I felt like I needed this shirt, but figured it wasn't really library appropriate.

And this is one of my favorite kate quotes, so of course it had to come home with me.

Being a gossip girl fan, Susan took me to wear their courtyard scenes were filmed. Squeeee!
xoxo Gossip Girl

And then more gluttonous food. Wild boar burger at Bare Burger. Mmmmm.

When we got home, I facetimed with Ollie (and Kyle). She kept looking at kyle and then the door because she couldn't understand why she was hearing mom but I wasn't there. Sadsies. :(
