Once upon a running Jerbear, I used to be a Asics nimbus lover. And then they started to just not work for me, so I went out searching for greener pastures. I had a brief stint with Saucony Kinvara. In fact, I think I ran most of my PRs in those shoes.... hmmm... However, I had some form issues I was working through and the lesser cushioning coupled with a mega heal strike led me to some injuries.
Around this same time I also started running in the Mizuno Wave Riders, which I loooooooove.
I'm currently on my eleventh pair of Wave Riders, and this doesn't include the small stockpile in my closet that I got for Christmas presents. I love that my training log includes a place for equipment, so I can easily see how much I spent on the shoes, how many miles I got out of the shoes, and the average cost per mile.
Most I've spent on the shoes: $115
Least I've spent on the shoes: $60
The most miles I've ever gotten on the shoes: 475 when I was training for my first marathon and at my lightest weight.
The least miles I've gotten on the shoes: 340 is what I tend to get now. I have actually retired two pairs at the exact mileage at 351, which is kind of crazy.
I can usually tell when a shoe is ready to be retired, and am always shocked when I look at the total mileage on there and usually realize I'm right. Due to my lesser running the last two years, I'm currently running in shoes that I bought in 2014/2015. Ahhh!! I will confess that I've been stockpiling cheap Wave Riders for years, so if I bought them in those years, they might have hung in the closet a bit before they were unveiled. My new training log doesn't list the purchase date, and my old one did. Sniffle. Extra data. :( Hah.
Another thing I love to see is the average cost per mile. The least cost was 18-19 cents with a couple of pairs of the kinvaras (mostly because they were cheap to start! they aren't very high mileage shoes). The highest was 31-34 cents per mile (mostly shoes that I paid full price for).
What's your ride or die shoe? Do you ever waiver?

Kinvara Stockpile
I pulled my last pair of new Saucony Kinvaras out of my shoe inventory the week before the Fargo HM half. I stocked up on shoes during some monster Memorial weekend sales. Without giving it too much thought, I assumed that these shoes would last me until Christmas where I could stockpile some more shoes for holiday sales. Uh...wrong. 3 weeks later, these poor shoes already have close to 150 on them, and only get about 300-350.
When the Angriest of Runners tweeted about running warehouse's sale on Kinvaras I was all aboard. I found the pink shoes I've been coveting, and a yellow and green pair. Sadly the yellow and green weren't on sale. Until I added them both to my cart and realized that the sale vs. non-sale were only $5 different! Come to mama. Oh and then I managed to find an ADDITIONAL coupon code because I'm a b.a. online shopper.
The office receptionist called me Tuesday morning to let me know I had a package. In her message she said, "I'm guessing they're running shoes!" Apparently I'm predictable.
Such a beautiful sight.
Behold. Their beauty.
And on to important questions: Which pair do I wear for Philly?!?!?

TiarT (but a few days late)
This is the first time I've participated in Tiart, and apparently I have to be different and post it on Saturday. TiarS if you will. Anyway, I had meant to do it previously, but didn't have access to internet, then I didn't have access to my camera, now I have both. Please forgive my tardiness.
To preface my post, I thought I would share a picture of all my running shoes. Left to right, top to bottom are my shoes newest to oldest. Apparently I like to throw in an Adidas pair every 5th shoe. Randomness. Ok Here I go.

Asics Nimbus 7. You are my favorite color: green. You are the most expensive pair of running shoes I have ever purchased ($130) and while I was a poor, poor college kid. But I had to have you. You were with me for my second and third half marathons as well as my two fastest 5ks. When you had reached your mileage limits, I upgraded to the Nimbus 9. But it just wasn’t the same. I missed you. When it was time for another new pair, I started scouring the internet in hopes that some warehouse somewhere would have you, and I could buy 50 pairs to last me to the end of my running days, but alas, I was not successful. I love you green Asics Nimbus 7. You complete me.
[Also, I ended up with 132 words, but with tax, I'm sure it was right around there! Ha.]
My running has been going very well lately. Tuesday I had an easy 3 mile. Wednesday was a speed work, which I l-o-v-e. I had 6 x 400 meter repeats. Thursday was another easy 3 miles. I've been challenging myself to actually do my easy runs at an "easy" pace. For some reason I feel like I have to run fast on every run. Which is dumb. Today I have a 4 mile easy run and tomorrow I have a 6 mile long run. I love that my "long" run is less than an hour. Hehe. Unfortunately it's in the 30s and supposed to be snowing all weekend, so I'll be putting some mileage in at the gym.
OOH. And I got to see comedian ILIZA SHLESINGER last night and it was amazing. My goal was to get her to pick me out of the crowd and ask me to be her new BFFF, but it didn't happen. :( Soooooooo stinkin' funny.
