F^3 Lake Half Marathon Training Week 8
Week of January 8-14
Monday Planned: GA + Speed 6 miles 6x100
Monday Actual: 6 recovery miles. My legs felt like garbage all day so I told Toni I really wanted to skip the run but wouldn't because it was nice out. I did tell her that I needed to go slow. Luckily after the first 1.25 miles my legs loosened up and it felt great. My heart rate was super low, so that was exactly what I needed.
Tuesday Planned: Recovery 4 mile
Tuesday Actual: Rest. Grumble grumble. It was beautiful out, and I couldn't get myself outside for a run. I'm still annoyed at myself.
Wednesday Planned: VO2 Max 9 miles 2x1200, 2x1000, 2x800 @ 3k-5k pace
Wednesday Actual: Toni and I did 4 miles before the group run, planning to go to the track after yoga, but Toni had to leave unexpectedly and I was too scared to run on the track solo that late at night. Also we didn't get a picture. It was a weird night.
Thursday Planned: Rest
Thursday Actual: One hour of POWER. I would've made up some miles but it was cold as hell out. No thanks.
Friday Planned: Recovery 3 miles
Friday Actual: We had planned 4 miles at the coffee run but the -24 degrees convinced us otherwise. I'm sick of winter.
Saturday Planned: Endurance 10 miles
Saturday Actual: After I taught yoga, we went out for 5 miles, opting to push our long run to Sunday since it was going to be almost double digits. HEAT WAVE YOU GUYS!!
Sunday Planned: Rest
Sunday Actual: 10 mile long run with Toni.
Total Mileage Planned: 32 Miles
Total Mileage Actual: 25.17 miles
Monday Planned: GA + Speed 6 miles 6x100

F^3 Lake Half Marathon Training Week 7
Week of January 1-7
Monday Planned: GA + Speed 8 miles 2 sets 4x150
Monday Actual: GA 8 miles. It was -17 with the windchill, and I thought I was actually going to die out on the trail once my sweat froze. The trail was super snowy, so we just focused on 8 miles with no pick ups. Good enough on a legit winter day like that!
Tuesday Planned: Rest
Tuesday Actual: Spent the day being my dad's uber driver and emotional support companion as he had cataract surgery. And then I went to work. It was actually nice enough to run in the middle of the day. I think we went over zero degrees for the first time in over 80 hours! yaaaaaaaas.
Wednesday Planned: General Aerobic 7 miles
Wednesday Actual: 6.5 General Aerobic miles. We kind of ran out of time to get in the full 7, as we did some miles before the group run, and I have to be back early enough after the actual group run to change out of 17 layers of clothes so I don't freeze to death while teaching yoga.
Thursday Planned: LT 10 miles middle 5 at LT
Thursday Actual: Woof. This was a challenge. We did a 3 mile warm up, and it was cold. -1 I think, but I maybe should've wore warmer tights. I decided we should do our tempo miles by effort and not worry about pace as there was significant snow and ice on the route still. So thankful that was the game plan. We had to run on the road for a huge section as there was a foot of snow drifted on the entire sidewalk. Kudos to those cars that moved over into the other lane when they saw us coming. Giant middle finger for those vehicles that opted to let us jump into said snow drift instead of getting over. Toni struggled a bit during the tempo miles as she's been feeling under the weather, but I felt like the energizer bunny go go go-ing. Then during the cool down miles, I wanted to take a nap, but Toni kept my brain from thinking about being done by telling me all the stories. We're stronger together. FO SHO.
Friday Planned: Recovery 3 miles 4x100
Friday Actual: We opted to skip the coffee run because the forecast was -17 and that's too cold. And then I woke up early because of my husband's incessant snoring and it was -4. I was so annoyed. As the day went on I was so incredibly sore that I was okay skipping the run.
Saturday Planned: Endurance 10 miles
Saturday Actual: Due to the cold weather and wind, we opted to move our long run to Sunday.
Sunday Planned: Rest
Sunday Actual: 10 miles endurance after work. We traipsed 10 miles around town after I got done working. It was good, the miles flew by, and we were barely wearing any layers, because IT WAS POSITIVE DEGREES OUT. yaaaaas!
Total Mileage Planned: 38 Miles
Total Mileage Actual: 34.6 miles

Toni gets the most amazing snowflake lashes, and I'm hella jealous. Mine melt as soon as I stop running. Rude.

This is the angle that I need to crane my neck for you to maybe see the snowflake lashes that only exist on my left eye. No it didn't work, yes it made for a comical photo.

F^3 Lake Half Marathon Training Week 5
Week of December 18-24
Monday Planned: Recovery run 5 miles
Monday Actual: Recovery run 5 miles. Through all the Christmas lights we go. I was shocked at how great I felt the day after a long run.
Tuesday Planned: LT 9 miles 38 minutes at LT
Tuesday Actual: Due to some wacko schedules this week, there was no time for Toni and I to do our tempo run together. And the thought of running 9 miles solo with LT paces was enough to make me want to skip. So I opted for 6 total. And it was awesome. I hit 4.3 ish for the tempo distance. Felt good to do a hard workout solo and nail it!
Wednesday Planned: Endurance 10 miles
Wednesday Actual: Endurance 8 miles. After looking at our schedule for the week, I decided that I really wanted to do a short recovery run on Sunday, so we shaved a couple of miles off of Wednesday night's run to make that happen. Which is good. I was getting sick of running during run #2 of 4 miles after yoga. Ugh.
Thursday Planned: Rest
Thursday Actual: Rest
Friday Planned: GA + Speed 5 miles 10x100
Friday Actual: I did not sleep Thursday night, so I skipped the coffee run. I regretted it all day. Womp.
Saturday Planned: Endurance 13 miles, increase effort last 3 miles @ LT pace
Saturday Actual: 13.1 miles for fun! Through the ice snow and -2 degree temps. Toni and I didn't run together, but we did run our long runs in the exact amount of time, down to a 13 second differential. We couldn't do this if we tried, honestly.
Sunday Planned: Recovery 3 miles 4x100
Sunday Actual: Recovery 5 miles in -9 degrees. Hit 1100+ miles for the year!
Total Mileage Planned: 40 Miles
Total Mileage Actual: 37.1 miles
