Guess what? I'm still super into podcasts. I spend at least an hour in my car going to and from work every day, so I get through a lot of podcasts, and audiobooks to pass the time. Someone once told me that if you listen to educational podcasts, within a year or two you would learn the equivalent amount of information as an undergrad education. Could someone fact check that for me? I'm too tired. Regardless. Here are some of the new podcasts that I'm super digging these days:
Armchair Expert
I love Dax Shepherd. Ok, to be honest, I love Kristin Bell. But the more I see her with Dax, the more I love him. And the more I love to the podcast, the more I love him. They're insanely long podcasts, but you feel like you're sitting down to coffee with him and his guest and truly you never want it to end!
Atlanta Monster
A newer podcast produced by the makers of one of my favorites, Up and Vanished, it looks at the Atlanta child murders from the '70s and '80s.
Deadly Manners
If you haven't listened to this yet, do yourself a favor and download them all asap. It's a narrative style story, and it's amazing. Speaking of how much I love Kristin Bell, she's the star of this one.
Chasing Bravery
This podcast is done in the same vein as Lindsey Hein's I'll Have Another, so if you're a fan of the one, you'll be a fan of the other. The two even sound similar!!
Making Obama
I'm making my way through this one which is an interesting look at how Obama came to be the President.

Podcasts Take 3
I've picked up a few more podcasts that I listen to with regularity and wanted to share. I have an hour in my car to and from work every day, so I go through a lot of audiobooks and podcasts! If you've missed my previous posts, here are: 1, 2, and running specific!
Dirty John
This one is all out in its entirety, which I appreciate for binge-ability.

Sworn
A sister podcast of Up and Vanished (one of my all time favorites) looks at cases on a smaller scale, a handful of episodes at a time.

Strength Running
I am a nerd of the sport of running, so this more technical-natured running podcast really appeals to me. I always learn something which earns it an A+.

A Killing on the Cape
I was needing something new to listen to on my way to Boston so I downloaded this one, and I flew through all of the available episodes.

Heaven's Gate Podcast
I don't know why, but I've always been super fascinated with Heaven's Gate. I remember the heavy publicity surrounding the mass murder when I was in grade school, so I was interested in this podcast diving deeper into the cult.

Podcasts Take 2
I spend a lot of time in my car driving back and forth from work, and I typically drive "into town" for my long runs on the weekend as well, and to do yoga, or cycle. So yeah, I spend a lot of time in my car. But that's cool, because I love my car (subie squad!). I listen to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts, so here is installment #2 of podcasts that I'm currently loving. (installment 1 can be found here, a running specific installment here).
Surely everyone has listened to S-Town by now, but if you haven't, it totally lives up to the hype. I didn't listen to it compulsively from start to finish, but pretty close. The first episode was just meh for me, but after that I was way into it.
Serial Serial is a pretty silly concept for a podcast in that it's a podcast about a podcast (how very meta, eh?). But I first started listening when it was recapping the original Serial podcast, and it has touched on season 2 and a bit on S-Town as well.
The Ali on the Run Show is one of my newest adds to my listening channel. I used to read Ali's blog back in the day, and then I fell out of love with running and unfollowed all the running blogs (nothing like watching people love running, when you don't, right?). But I found her podcast and she seems like such a cool girl, that clearly us and our dogs need to be friends. I'm entertained, and I typically learn something new. What more could you want from a podcast?
Endurance Planet is a newer running podcast I've added to my rotation. Some of the posts are a little too technical for my liking (which is impressive because I love the technical!) but they're one of the only podcasts I've found that really dive in to the science behind running, and I obviously eat that up.
Relationship Alive is your weekly relationship counseling session that you don't have to pay for or coordinate a schedule with your partner to attend. For real. It's awesome. Last fall I listened to an episode every week during a long walk and it always gave such excellent advice and suggestions. If you think about it, no one ever teaches us *how* to be in a successful healthy relationship. We have our parents as an example, but if our parents relationship isn't identical to our partners parents' relationship (which the odds of that are like, one in a million, right?) then we're already starting off on a difficult foot. The host brings on experts of various areas of relationships, and it's just great.
What else do I need to add to the rotation?!

Running Podcasts
I've started listening to some Running podcasts. I've always been a podcast listener (well, always since Serial came out, I should clarify) and rarely listen to running podcasts. Well, I'm now converting. Listening to them on my drives or while I'm getting ready for a run really help with my motivation to get out there and log some miles. And everyone needs some extra help with that, right?
Here are a few of my favorites:
There are tons of podcasts on Marathon Training Academy. I especially loved their breakdown in explaining heartrate rate training.

I'll Have Another is a great conversational style podcast. It feels like Lindsey + her guest(s) are tagging along with you on your run, or you're all sitting around for coffee taking a deep dive into her guest's brains and brilliance.
Human Race by Runner's World always highlights different runners and their exceptional feats. It's always an incredibly inspiring story. A must-listen on those days when you don't "feel like running". Most of the runners featured are so awe-inspiring that you'll retire that excuse asap.
C Tolle Run is one of the newest podcasts I've picked up hosted by Carrie Tollefson, well known midwestern/Minnesotan runner. She actually takes her guest(s) on a run and they mic up while out on the road. Sometimes the audio might be a little annoying, but the information is always top notch.

Podcasts
I jumped on the podcast train back when Serial first came out. Last fall, when I first started having a "commute" to work for the first time ever, I expanded my podcast repertoire even more (in addition to all the audiobooks).
Here are some of my favorites:
Pop Culture Happy Hour--A weekly podcast about music, movie, television news done by NPR. I've found so many pop culture gems to consume because of this show!
Bitch Sesh--For my bravo-obsessives, this is the podcast for you. Casey Wilson (of Happy Endings fame, RIP Happy Endings) and Danielle Schneider lead us through weekly episodes of all things Real Housewife related. Trashy tv at its finest.
Flash Forward--The writers imagine a future with or without __________ and then takes us through what that future looks like. Always thought provoking!
Science Vs--Each episode tackles a piece of science and works to sift through whether it's fact, fiction, or somewhere in between. I always learn something new, but it's an entertaining listen as well!
In the Dark--For anyone obsessed with the Jacob Wetterling disappearance, this podcast takes us through the case and possible short-comings of the initial investigation.
Up and Vanished--My current fave. A story uncovering the disappearance of a school teacher that has been unsolved for ten years. When I discovered it, I binge listened to the six episodes I missed.
What have I missed???
