Day 2 of 1/2 Training...I'm bored...

I started my HM training this week.  I thought going with a new training program would spice things up again, but I'm boooooored.  The training plan calls for 4 runs during the week, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday easy and Thursday speed work.  I'm already sick of running 4 "easy" miles.  Blah.  Maybe it was just the fact that my bed felt oh so good this morning that has me "hatin' on" the easy runs.  I was thinking I might spice up an easy Tuesday with some hill work--maybe just once or twice a month to give me something different to look forward to.  Maybe I just hate the 4 mile distance, I dunno.  Rant over.  :)

Obviously, this morning I did an easy 4 miles, and my splits are eerily similar to yesterday's.  I a consistent creature, what can I say?  I did 4 in 36:05. for a pace of 9:01.
1.  9:36
2.  9:18
3.  9:13
4.  8:56

No crazy creature sightings, but I did run the opposite way, so that's to be expected.

Last night I had some delicious sushi.  I really wanted to take a photo of my raw kaisen salad (lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, kaisen dressing, and tuna, salmon, and two other kinds of sashimi).  IT WAS AMAZING.  How do the food bloggers not feel like complete weirdos taking pics of their food at restaurants?  I really wanted to but thought I would get some strange looks.  :)  Needless to say, the salad and my shrimp tempura rolls were amazing, and I left feeling full, but not painfully full, like I usually do when I go out to eat.  That's the thing I love the most about sushi, you never get that uncomfortably full feeling.

Speaking of food, I'm going to go eat a leftover fajita for breakfast.  Probably the best perk about morning running, is I have an excuse to eat un-breakfast-like foods for breakfast.  A girl has gotta refuel!

Hey girl, I wanted to answer your question - There's a bunch of different ways to do a progression run. One is to run your last couple miles fast after a long run. Or, what I like to do, is run the first two or so miles at a relaxed pace, then pick it up (like 15 sec. or so) for the next mile, and so on until I'm close to race pace for the last mile. That would be negeative splits then. :) I don't consider them speedwork really....just a chance to go fast every once in awhile, because it's fun :)

Sorry that you're bored already with your plan. I hope it gets more interesting for you soon.

Mmm, sushi dinner sounds delicious!

I know the feeling of boredom. It's not the distance but the monotony of seeing the same things over and over andover. I spend time on MapMyRun.com these days looking for new routes.

ha a fajita for breakfast? Awesome!!! I totally condone this. it's like a breakfast burrito without the egg. ;)

I get bored with the "easy" miles too - usually I try to find a new route to run. Running with a group along the National mall has totally done the trick! I get to run with my buddy and someone else tells us where to go! haha.

Uh oh, that's no good that you're bored already. Do you run with an Ipod? Maybe you could download some new tunes or audiobooks or something to distract you during those easy runs (which are my favorite runs, I'm lazy like that;)).

I feel weird taking pictures too. i just do it real quick and hope only a few people see me being silly!!

Those easy runs will pay off later I am sure!

I hope you can find a new route or mix it up somehow to make the training more enjoyable. It does get hard seeing the same length of runs all the time. Good luck!

i always WANT to take pics of my food but i very rarely do-- that's why i'm not a food blogger. i often don't have my camera, or it takes too long to turn on (it's old), or it feels out of place at a restaurant. i totally feel ya!!!!

i would recommend revising your schedule!!! take a couple of the days and change the workout (not too drastically, but just something that would spice it up and make it more "you").
