Weekly Training Recap

Tuesday I woke up at insanely-early-o'clock to attend an ashtanga class by Zoe Ward. It was 90 minutes of sweating my hiney off and contorting my body into positions I've never imagined. Like whoa.

Wednesday was group run and yoga day. Jenn ran with me for an easy 2 miles. I got to hear her abbreviated report on the Twin Cities Marathon. I only went two because I was having some out of the normal hamstring tightness and wonky knee weirdness. After the run I stretched, and then it was time for yoga!

This was my first class teaching in four weeks, since I was off while on my honeymoon. I missed my yogis, and we had a fun flow together! My hammies felt much better when I walked out of the running store.

Thursday morning I was back up and at em for more yoga, this time mysore style ashtanga. It was further proof that I'm terrible at memorizing the ashtanga sequence, and that I am just a baby in my ashtanga practice. Uff. That's why it's a practice, eh?

Sunday
night I enjoyed a magical hour of restorative yoga. Magic, I swear.

Sioux Falls Half Marathon Training Week 8 and 9

Week 8 was pretty lax in training. I had my bridal shower Tuesday night, and could not bring myself to get out of bed early any morning. I'm blaming allergies for my itchy, overly tired eyes.
Thursday night we had a horrific flash flood, and the storm was just starting after work, so I opted not to go to the yoga studio. So thankful I didn't! I would've been stranded until close to midnight at least.

And becuase of the storm, everything was dirty and still flooded on Friday so I coudln't do my long run. Excuses, man, I have lots o' em.
I did get to the studio for a back to back barre and yoga session.

Saturday night was my bachelorette party so I was in no shape to do anything on Sunday. Does tearing up the dance floor count as cardio??

Week 9 was also fairly lax in training. I was fighting something, allergies maybe? All week requiring me to silence my alarm and cancel any before work workouts.

Wednesday I woke up early for BarreAmped Express.

After work, I rushed to the running store for the group run and considered skipping it altogether while waiting for yoga to start in the air conditioned store. It was so miserable out. But I went out.

I only let myself go two miles, and I did have a small walk break around mile 1.5 when I found myself in zero shade and cooking. Woof.

And then we had yoga after class! What a fun night.

Sunday I went to the barre for breakfast.

Sioux Falls Half Marathon Training Week 3

Monday morning I assisted a yoga class, so I didn't get a workout in.

Tuesday I was up super early to take a power vinyasa class and then assist an express class after. It was one of the funnest flows I've done in awhile!

Wednesday night was group run at 605 Running Co. I actually had company on the run which was awesome. And after we continued our sweat by doing a nice and tough flow!

Thursday morning was another early morning class with a new to me instructor. So hard. So much sweat.

Saturday I had planned to run a 5k but a 45 minute drive and a 10am start time in the heat weeee having had me thinking otherwise.

Sunday I met Emily at barre for a class. I rarely sweat in barre (which I love) but I worked up a bit sweat in Katie's class!

Since I was already sweaty I thought I might as well take my bike out for a spin! I biked a leisurely paced 14 miles with a friend and then tried to haul some booty for 11 of the remaining 13. I was averaging 16 mph which is flyyyyying for me. Barre and yoga must be helping strengthen my legs up because this is my first ride this year. Oops.

And I ended the weekend with the magical unicorn hour of restorative yoga. Ahhhh....

Sioux Falls Half Marathon Training Week 2

Tuesday I woke up early to join the running club at the yoga studio for some early morning miles. I ran there, did a 5k tempo run and then jogged home. It was a thick humid run.

Thursday morning I was up early for power vinyasa yoga. Somehow it was my first yoga class in 2 weeks; no wonder it felt so hard!

Thursday night I was back at the studio for a barre class. Whoop.

And some more barre Sunday morning. I'm a bit obsessed.
And because I'm actually insane, I ran to and from barre. I love that my run home, recovery pace was faster than my run there because my glutes were awake and alive after class.

And Sunday night I went to a magical unicorn restorative class. I stopped going to Sunday night restorative during football season because class kept conflicting with the packers games. Needless to say, I'm back. Heaven.

Weekly Training Recap

I started off the week with a group run at the running store followed by a yoga flow that I led!

Saturday I ran my first race of 2015. I did a quick warm up before with some strides and then raced a 5k.

I went to an awesomely tough and sweaty power vinyasa class Sunday morning and learned just how fatigued my legs were from the race. Whoa.

I'd also signed up for a 2 hour arm balance workshop. Which I regretted almost immediately because of how hot it was. Uff. It was stellar and I learned a lot, but a recovery post race, this was not.

Tuesday night was spent at the barre.

Wednesday night was the best group run yet--a group run at the new brewery in town! The run was short and sweet and the beer was cold and delicious. Win, win!

Friday I ran to BarreAmped Cardio, and within 15 minutes of the class starting, I realized that doing my cardio BEFORE a cardio class was d-u-m-b. It was so tough, and I almost died from sweat, if that's a thing. Needless to say, my trip home was a run/walk. And my glutes were sore for daaaaaaays.

Weekly Training Recap

On Tuesday Emily and I met at the barre for a class heavy on the booty and core work.

Friday was so gorgeous out that Ollie and I got to take a nice long snowy walk together.
Friday night I attended a power vinyasa class with Emily.
Sunday morning I was signed up for a workshop yoga practice that focused on chakras. It inspired me to dive back into my books on chakras later that afternoon.

And the running store had a group run late in the afternoon. So I tagged along for a couple of miles in shorts!
